Focus
Ranch: A Cattle Ranch tucked away in the Colorado/Wyoming
Rockies but
easily accessed by car or plane.
Many of our guests are excited
to have found a cattle ranch that offers gorgeous
landscapes, more than
just trail riding and a variety of non-horse activities…all
within domestic borders and ease of reach. Focus
Ranch maintains the traditions of the original dude
ranch by inviting guests to share in the life and
times of a real working cattle ranch. We have modernized
our guests’ facilities over the years but some
things have stayed constant: a 1300 head yearling
cattle operation; guests involvement in ranch activities;
use of the horse to get the job done; open space
with very few people and a feeling like you have
finally found a piece of heaven on earth once you
set foot on “Focus terra firma”.
Life
of a Guest at Focus Ranch
It doesn’t take long to become acquainted with
the traditions and customs of Focus Ranch, partly
because what we do day to day is determined by the
work needing to be done with the cattle. Guests decide
how little or how much they want to participate and
can choose from the many options available to them
during their stay here. For those who come to ride,
our horseback riding is one of our most outstanding
features…guests ride cross country and with
a purpose. The skill level of the rider doesn’t
matter as there are always jobs that can be done
safely on a horse and tailored to the individual’s
riding ability. It is because of our guest business
that our cattle do so well. We take pride in our
expertise to manage the two, something we have been
personally doing for over 30 years and the way of
life since Focus joined the Colorado Dude Ranch Association
in 1939.

Ranch Experiences off the Horse
Not everyone wants to ride, let alone ride all day.
There is life at Focus Ranch off a horse. Other
activities include: fly fishing in the Little Snake
River or back country streams; hiking; skeet shooting;
swimming; hot tub; and helping with a variety of
ranch work. Off the ranch, there are day trip activities:
museums; rafting; shopping and more. Towns such
as: Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Encampment and
Saratoga, Wyoming, provide entertainment and scenic
drives. We tailor the kids’ activities each
week to account for different age groups and interests.
We have always maintained that the kids find more
to do on our ranch than there is time in the day.
There are some times during our season when the
work is more active and/or when there are just
adults.
We invite you to
tour our web site to gain a better understanding
of Focus Ranch
and to come visit
this hidden treasure of the Sierra Madre’s.
Your hosts: Maureen and Terry Reidy
